Our farm is located in beautiful Mid-Coast Maine on Westport Island. The Island provides a unique coastal climate to grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers and culinary herbs. All of our produce and flowers are MOFGA Certified Organic. We strive to grow the most delicious and nutritious food possible.

We take great pride in being stewards of the land, choosing to use cover crops and organic amendments to enrich our soil instead of chemical inputs. We rotate our crops yearly to promote healthy and disease-free soil. We believe in the importance of working with Nature and not against her. With that being said, it takes time to build soil fertility but in the long run our investment pays off much more handsomely with incredible food and peace of mind.

Each year we try new varieties of seeds, heirloom and hybrid, looking for vegetables that have a great flavor and are appealing to the eye. We also have our old favorites that we plant year after year. We scour seed catalogs each season looking for seeds that look interesting and have the traits that we value in a vegetable or fruit. As each new catalog comes in the mail we get excited to see what new seeds are being offered.

We pasture raise pigs and feed them only certified organic feed without antibiotics or hormones. It is our belief that the amount of love and care you put into them is what you will get out in the end. We handle our animals daily and treat them humanely without causing them stress. It has been a great joy to raise our own meat. We are thankful that we can say we know what our meat is made of and where it comes from.

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs are a great way to support your local farmer early in the season, giving them capital to purchase seeds, soil, amendments, and other miscellaneous things.

The CSA model at the Tarbox Farm is unique because it is based on a credit system instead of a weekly basket pick up. You make the choices about what you want to buy for produce, flowers, or culinary herbs. A record of your purchases is kept and we keep you informed of your balance. You can pick up your produce at the Bath Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 8:30-Noon or at the Boothbay Farmer's Market on Thursdays from 9-Noon starting the end of May. Our CSA program runs from the beginning of May to the end of October.

Early on in the season you can expect to see salad greens, kale, chard, radishes and broccoli. The next flush of vegetables will include carrots, leeks, beans and root crops. At the height of the season we will have a wide variety of peppers, eggplant, herbs, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, cucumbers, greens, carrots, melons, beets, flowers, and plenty of other crops. The end of the season will bring a diverse crop of winter squash, garlic and storage crops.

We offer 4 different share sizes to accommodate all size families.

  • $100.00 share with an extra $10.00 credit
  • $200.00 share with an extra $20.00 credit
  • $300.00 share with an extra $30.00 credit
  • $400.00 share with an extra $40.00 credit

How to use your CSA!

If purchasing a whole share ($300.00), we recommend spending an average of $15-$20 per week throughout the CSA season which runs from the beginning of May until the 1st of November. This will ensure that you use up your entire share by the end of the season. This is just a guide. But allow yourself to have fun.  Try some new vegetables that you haven't before or just a new variety of an old favorite. And if you aren't sure how to prepare it just ask Angie and she will point you in the right direction.

How to sign up!

You can mail a check to:  Tarbox Farm, 177 Post Office Road, Westport Island, Maine 04578. Please include your phone number and e-mail address. We do send out e-mail newsletters so we want to include you on our list. It's that easy.

Please contact us if you have any other questions about the CSA Program.
