THE FARM
Our farm is located on beautiful Westport Island in Midcoast Maine, where the coastal climate creates ideal conditions for growing a diverse variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and culinary herbs. We are passionate about growing flavorful, nutrient-dense food while caring thoughtfully for the land that sustains us.
We believe healthy soil is the foundation of everything we grow. Through crop rotation, cover crops, compost, and natural soil-building practices, we focus on long-term soil health rather than relying on chemical inputs. Farming this way takes patience and intention, but the reward is vibrant produce, healthier ecosystems, and peace of mind.
Each season brings new experimentation and discovery. We plant a mix of heirloom and hybrid varieties, always searching for vegetables and fruits with exceptional flavor, beauty, and resilience. Alongside new varieties, we continue to grow longtime favorites that have become staples of the farm over the years. Winter seed catalogs remain one of our favorite traditions — a glimpse into the possibilities of the season ahead.
In addition to produce and flowers, we pasture-raise pigs with care and intention, feeding them high-quality feed free from antibiotics and hormones. We believe the way animals are raised matters deeply, and we are committed to treating them humanely and respectfully every step of the way.
At Tarbox Farm, we strive to work with nature, steward the land responsibly, and create something meaningful from the farm for our family, our community, and everyone who visits us at the end of the island.
